An earthquake of 5.6 magnitude occurred in Bhutan late on Sunday night, whose tremors were also felt in Sikkim and West Bengal. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the epicenter of the earthquake was near the Punakha region of Bhutan. Due to this, people in many areas in India including Gangtok, Siliguri, Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar felt tremors in the earth for a few seconds. People came out of their homes as a precaution. At present there is no news of any loss of life or property.
