A task force from the Civil, Federal and Military police found and seized around 490 kg of cocaine buried in a rural area of Pindorama do Tocantins, in the southeast region of the state, this Sunday (7). During the action, two men were arrested red-handed, and an aircraft suspected of being used to transport drugs was located.
According to the Civil Police, during the operation, teams spotted suspicious vehicles leaving the area. The occupants tried to escape, which led to the beginning of tactical monitoring with blockades and patrols on the region's roads. The action resulted in the arrest of two suspects.
They were charged with the crimes of drug trafficking, association for drug trafficking, illegal possession of a firearm and integration into a criminal organization. They were then taken to the Palmas Penal Unit, where they remain at the disposal of the Justice Department.
The names of the suspects were not released. For this reason, g1 was unable to make contact with the defenses.

In addition to the drugs found buried, police officers located an aircraft nearby with signs of tampering in its structure. According to the police, the modifications suggest that the plane had been adapted for the illicit transport of large loads.

The seizure is part of Operation Sentinela Christi, launched by the Integrated Force to Combat Organized Crime in Tocantins (FICCO/TO). The objective of the action is to dismantle a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking within the state.
Transnational trafficking
Investigations by the Federal Police and the Public Security Secretariat (SSP) indicate that the seized cocaine is part of a structured transnational trafficking scheme. According to investigations, the group used clandestine air routes and aircraft adapted to transport and distribute the drug.
The suspects were taken to the Palmas Penal Unit, where they remain at the disposal of the Justice Department. The incident was registered at the Regional Superintendence of the Federal Police, in the capital.
The operation included the participation of the Federal, Civil, Military and Penal police, as well as specialized units, such as the Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE), the Military Road and Border Police Battalion (BPMRED) and battalions from several cities in Tocantins. Teams from the Federal Police of Araguaína and Redenção (PA) also participated.
