A section of BR-381, in Belo Oriente, in Vale do Aço, was completely reopened late this Sunday morning (7), after remaining closed for more than 28 hours. The highway had been closed on Saturday morning (6) due to the overturn of a tanker truck loaded with fuel.
According to the Nova 381 concessionaire, responsible for the highway, the release occurred after the conclusion of emergency work and ensuring safety at the accident site. The operation was supported by the Fire Department, in addition to support from the Federal Highway Police (PRF) and the concessionaire.

The accident happened at km 234 of BR-381, on the stretch between Ipatinga and Belo Oriente. The tanker truck was carrying around 30,000 liters of fuel and ended up overturned in a channel on the side of the road, which required a total closure of the road.
As a safety measure, an isolation of approximately one kilometer was established around the area, due to the risk caused by the flammable cargo. To free up traffic, it was necessary to transfer the fuel to another vehicle, provided by the company responsible for the truck.

According to the PRF, the driver was trapped in the wreckage, was rescued by the Fire Department and taken to the Ipatinga UPA. There is no updated information about his health status.
According to the concessionaire, with the opening of the lane in Belo Oriente, traffic flows normally along the entire length of BR-381.
