A man died and five other people were injured after two cars collided head-on on Saturday night (6) in Astorga, in the North of Paraná. The accident happened at kilometer 267 of PR-218.

According to the State Highway Police, one of the cars was heading towards the city of Iguaraçu, when it was hit by the other, which was coming in the opposite direction. It is not yet known what caused the accident.
SAMU or Firefighters? Understand the difference
The victims were rescued by the Emergency Medical Care Service (Samu) and taken to health units in the region.
According to Samu, the driver of one of the cars was found in a very serious condition and taken to Santa Casa de Maringá, but he succumbed to his injuries and died. He was identified as Alexandre José dos Santos, 65 years old.
His 6-year-old son was also taken to the Maringá University Hospital in serious condition. There is still no information about his health status.
Two other men and two women had minor injuries and were taken to hospitals in Astorga and Arapongas.
The cars involved in the accident had their front parts completely destroyed. According to PRE, the vehicles were released to those responsible.
