Rifles are found hidden in a false bottom of a car and the driver is arrested in PI Three rifles and six magazines were found and seized in a false bottom on the front panel of a car, this Sunday morning (7), during an inspection by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) on BR-316, in Picos, in the south of Piauí. The driver was arrested red-handed. The driver, identified by the initials E. M. de S., told the police that the rifles would be taken from the Serra Negra community, in Colinas (MA), to the city of Recife (PE). The driver and the rifles and chargers were sent to the Picos Federal Police Station, which must investigate the case and identify the owners and recipients of the material. The man may be charged with possessing and transporting a firearm with restricted use or with a suppressed number without legal authorization. Vehicle was stopped for traffic violations The PRF also reported that the approach to the suspect was motivated by traffic violations visible in the vehicle, such as: a cracked windshield and equipped with an irregular light panel; front plate with the QR Code partially suppressed; and "smooth" spare tire. After the approach, when proceeding to check the mandatory safety items inside the car, the police found a small amount of a substance similar to marijuana - apparently for personal consumption. According to the PRF, the driver then began to demonstrate "strong restlessness, presenting contradictory stories about the origin, destination and the real reason for his trip." "In view of the nervousness and after consulting the security systems — which revealed that the driver already had a criminal record for theft —, the team decided to carry out a thorough search of the vehicle," concluded the PRF.
