The rain returns to Rio Grande do Sul this Sunday (7) and gains strength on Monday (8). The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) published a yellow alert, of potential danger, for storms, with intense winds and hail forecasts in several regions of the state.
On Monday, the formation of a low pressure area and a cyclogenesis process cause widespread rain. According to Climatempo Meteorologia, the storms are initially concentrated in the West, Southwest, South, Campanha, Costa Doce, Vales, Center-South and Coast of Rio Grande do Sul.

🔎 Cyclogenesis is the process that creates a new low pressure system, or cyclone, or intensifies a pre-existing system.
Cities such as Porto Alegre, Santa Maria, Pelotas and Uruguaiana are at risk of heavy rain. The Inmet warning, valid from 3am to 11:59pm on Monday, predicts accumulations of up to 50 millimeters per day and wind gusts between 40 and 60 km/h. There is a low risk of electricity cuts, damage to crops and flooding.

Before that, this Sunday, the showers begin in the Southwest, South and interior, and advance to the Central region and points in the North between the afternoon and evening. Temperatures in the state vary between 9°C and 26°C. On the North Coast, the forecast is for light and temporary rain.
The instability continues on Tuesday (9), with many clouds and lower temperatures, especially in the North, Serra and Vales half. During the night, the weather begins to firm up, which should cause a drastic drop in temperature and isolated frosts in the highest points of the Serra Gaúcha at dawn on Wednesday (10).
⚠️In case of gusts of wind, Inmet advises that the population does not take shelter under trees and does not park vehicles near transmission towers and advertising signs. The use of electronic devices plugged into a socket should be avoided. Additional information can be obtained from Civil Defense (199) and the Fire Department (193).
