What is behind Macron's reception of the former President of Senegal?

French President Emmanuel Macron received, this week, at the Elysee Palace in Paris, former Senegalese President Macky Sall, in a meeting that is part of a diplomatic campaign undertaken by the latter to support his candidacy for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations, to succeed the current Secretary-General António Guterres, whose term ends at the end of this year.
