Three people, including a woman, were killed in the attack in Manipur's Kangpokpi district in the early hours of Friday. Armed assailants attacked Loibol Khullen village of Saitu-Gamfazol subdivision at around 4 am. During this period seven houses were also burnt. Officials said there was firing between the two groups for several minutes. As soon as the firing started, the people of the village were forced to take shelter in the nearby forests to save their lives. Those killed have been identified as Letkhongam Haokip, Tinmari Haokip and Jangminlal Haokip. According to officials, all three died during the firing. Those responsible will not be spared – CM Singh CM Y. Khemchand Singh described the attack as disgusting and cowardly. Targeting unarmed civilians is completely unacceptable and those responsible will not be spared. Singh has directed the state police and other security agencies to arrest the attackers soon. Also asked to increase security in sensitive areas and provide necessary relief to the affected families. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen said that the government is taking this incident seriously. Necessary steps are being taken and action will be taken against the culprits as per law. He appealed to the people to maintain peace and not be misled by those trying to spread fear and division. KIM demands arrest of culprits Meanwhile, KIM (Kuki Inpi Manipur), the apex organization of Kuki tribes in the state, also condemned the attack and demanded an investigation to arrest the culprits. KIM said in its statement that it strongly condemns this violence against unarmed civilians.
