In West Bengal, Trinamool Congress (TMC) has faced disintegration for the first time after 28 years of party formation. 58 out of 80 rebel MLAs of TMC on Wednesday elected Ritabrata Banerjee as the leader of the legislative party in place of Mamata Banerjee. The speaker also approved this claim. The whole game of rebellion started on May 22 with the meeting of TMC MLA Ritabrata Banerjee and Chief Minister Shubhendu Adhikari at Banga Bhawan in Delhi. This one meeting divided the party into two parts in just 13 days. Amid the ongoing political crisis within TMC, many leaders considered close to Mamata attended the administrative review meeting of CM Shubhendu on Wednesday. These included Kolkata Mayor Firhad Hakim, Kunal Ghosh, Nayana Bandyopadhyay and Ashok Deb. This development has further exposed the ongoing tussle within the party.
