A large amount of ancient documents from the end of the Heian period have been found from Buddhist statues, including writings by Minamoto no Yoshinaka.

A large number of ancient documents from the late Heian period, which reveal the turmoil during the Genpei War, were found among the nationally important cultural property ``Wooden Statue of Amida Nyorai'' owned by a temple in Osaka City. Experts say, ``The discovery of a large number of new ancient documents from this period is extremely rare and valuable.''
