Gunma Prefecture's secluded hot spring, Shiriyaki Onsen, is a hot spring that gushes from the riverbed and has been turned into a huge open-air bath, and was once used to make daily necessities. Triggered by a TV program in the 1980s, tourists flooded in, and traditional hot spring culture was at a major turning point.
