The special prosecutor requested Hak Ja Han, president of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (Unification Church), to be sentenced to 13 years in prison. President Han is under suspicion of collusion between political and political circles with the Yoon Seok-yeol government. The special prosecutor defined this case as a “case of state interference” and asked the court to “sentence a severe sentence on these people to prevent illegal collusion between religious groups and religious organizations and state interference by religious groups from ever happening again.” Special prosecutor Kim Kun-hee’s team (Special Prosecutor Min Joong-ki) held a trial on the 10th at the Seoul Central District Court’s Criminal Agreement Division 27 (Presiding Judge Woo In-seong) on charges of violation of the Political Fund Act and the Anti-Graft Act against President Han. A total of 13 years in prison was requested, including 5 years in prison for violating the Political Fund Act and 8 years in prison for the remaining charges. The special prosecutor's team said of President Han, "He was the ultimate beneficiary of collusion between government and government in this case. He privatized material and human resources under his control and traded them according to political interests. As he is the final decision-maker, he must be held accountable accordingly." He continued, “This incident has disrupted the constitutional order of the Republic of Korea by taking advantage of the final decision-making process of religious groups.”
