The People's Power Party, which is protesting against the Democratic Party of Korea's push to compose the National Assembly in the second half of the National Assembly, declared that it would boycott all National Assembly schedules except for the national investigation into the shortage of ballot papers for the ongoing June 3 local elections. Within the party, a hard-line argument was raised that all members should resign, while some argued that since there is no realistic way to accept major standing committees such as the Legislation and Judiciary Committee, there was also a 'realistic argument' that they should participate in forming the House and then continue the struggle within the House. The People Power Party held a general meeting of lawmakers for about two hours on the afternoon of the 2nd to discuss measures to respond to the composition of the House in the second half of the 22nd National Assembly. Floor leader Jeong Jeong-sik met with reporters after the general meeting and said, “We cannot cooperate with the formation of the National Assembly in this state. We have no choice but to move forward through a stronger struggle.” If the Democratic Party does not hand over the chairmanship of the Legislative and Judiciary Committee, it has made it clear that it has no intention of accepting the chairmanship of the seven standing committees, including the chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee, assigned to the People Power Party. The leadership in the National Assembly is in the position that it will not participate in all schedules of the July extraordinary session of the National Assembly except for the special committee on national affairs.
