Controversy is rising online after an image of a moviegoer watching a movie with his bare feet on the front seat in a movie theater was captured. The official SNS account of the online community Bobae Dream recently posted a photo with the message, “Young women have put their feet on the front seat in the theater.” The photo, which appears to have been taken inside the theater, shows two audience members staring at the screen with their bare feet stretched out on top of the backrest of the front seat. They took off all their shoes and socks and had their feet on the front seats, exposing them to the gaze of the audience around them. The post said that there were conflicting opinions: “There is no problem with bare feet because there is no one in front of you,” and “it is uncomfortable for other audience members to see other people’s feet.” The behavior of ‘putting your feet up’ in movie theaters is a common topic that is constantly on the cutting board through online communities and social media. As it is a multi-use facility used by the majority of the audience, it is a mature facility that is considerate of others, taking into account visual discomfort and hygiene issues.
