The MDMK has officially ended its alliance with the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance in Tamil Nadu. Announcing the decision, party chief Vaiko alleged that reports of the DMK supporting the AIADMK after the Assembly elections prompted the split. The party has now extended its support to Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay’s TVK government and announced it will back TVK candidates in the upcoming by-elections.
