President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) stated this Wednesday (17) that he did not request a bilateral meeting with Donald Trump because Brazil and the United States are still negotiating trade tariffs.
Lula also said that Trump did a "brazen thing" with Brazil and that he "talks a lot and listens little." The PT member also declared that Trump, by criticizing Brazilian politics, shows that he does not know Brazil.
"I didn't ask for a bilateral with Trump because we are negotiating. What he did was a shameless thing. We are negotiating. I delivered a document. If you want to fight organized crime, Brazil is very willing. He even said that all the weapons that the PF seizes are from Miami. I delivered it in writing and I don't just want to talk. Trump talks a lot and listens little."
According to the PT member, this type of debate in international forums is becoming "a one-note samba". According to him, when guests who are not part of the group arrive at the event, the group has already approved the official document, without taking other demands into consideration.
Lula made the statement at a press conference after participating in the agenda of the G7 summit, in Évian-les-Bains, France.
