The first former president of the Spanish Government to be charged by Justice, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, declared this Wednesday, June 17, before the National Court as being investigated in a case for crimes related to an alleged influence peddling plot, in the rescue of the Plus Ultra airline. The socialist leader pleaded innocent and refused to have accounts abroad, but avoided commenting on a separate piece of the case for alleged tax and smuggling crimes after the seizure of jewelry valued at 1.3 million euros.
