Federal police officers arrested a couple on Tuesday (16) who were fugitives from justice, accused of criminal association and falsification of public documents. The investigation points to an organization specializing in forging release permits, used to release prisoners in the state of Rio.
Agents from the Drug Enforcement Station (DRE) and the Federal Police Station in Macaé served two preventive arrest warrants issued by the 10th Federal Criminal Court of Rio de Janeiro. The man and woman were in the city of Itaboraí, a metropolitan region of the state.

Among those benefiting from the scheme is one of the biggest arms traffickers in the country, sentenced to 27 years in prison, as well as others convicted of serious crimes, who were released based on false court documents.
After serving their arrest in the act, the couple was sent to the state prison system, where they will remain at the disposal of the Federal Court, pending trial.
The duo will be responsible for the crimes of criminal association and falsification of public documents, without prejudice to other crimes that may be identified during the investigations.
