A new cold front is expected to change the weather in the Center-South of Brazil from next Thursday (18), bringing rain, storms and a new drop in temperatures.
The system first arrives in Rio Grande do Sul, should advance through the South Region and Mato Grosso do Sul on Friday (19) and reach São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro on Saturday (20).
After the passage of the cold front, a mass of polar air should gain strength and drop temperatures even further, mainly in the South, but it should also cause reflections in areas of the Southeast and Midwest.

At higher points, the minimum temperatures can be close to 0°C. Throughout the day, the sun appears in much of the region, and the weather becomes more stable before the arrival of the new cold front.

The change begins on Thursday night, when the cold front is expected to reach Rio Grande do Sul and cause storms.
Rain may be accompanied by lightning, gusts of wind and a drop in temperature. On Friday, the system should advance through the three southern states and also through Mato Grosso do Sul.
This must be the day with the worst rain conditions in the Center-South, especially in areas of Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina and Paraná.
On Saturday, the cold front should reach São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In São Paulo (SP), the forecast indicates increased cloudiness, rain and lower temperatures throughout the day.
The capital of São Paulo, which already has cold mornings this week, should experience a clearer drop again at the weekend.
In Rio de Janeiro (RJ), the weather is also expected to change, with more clouds, rain and a milder feeling, especially between Saturday and Sunday.

Porto Alegre (RS), Florianópolis (SC) and Curitiba (PR) should have lower temperatures, especially at the beginning of the day and at night.
In the Central-West, the cold front should have a clearer impact on Mato Grosso do Sul. Campo Grande (MS) may see an increase in clouds, rain and a drop in temperature from Friday onwards.
In Mato Grosso and Goiás, the heat still prevails in most areas, but there is a chance of isolated showers in parts of Mato Grosso.

The rain should advance towards the east of Minas Gerais and the territory of Espírito Santo, but with less intensity. Belo Horizonte (MG) should feel less of the direct effects of the system, but areas in the south and east of Minas may have more clouds and isolated rain. Vitória (ES) may also register instability over the weekend.
In the Northeast, the rain remains more concentrated on the coast. Between Thursday and the weekend, instability should mainly affect areas between Rio Grande do Norte, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe and Bahia. Recife (PE), Maceió (AL) and Aracaju (SE) may experience more frequent rain. In the northeastern interior, dry weather continues to predominate, with low air humidity and heat in the hottest hours of the day.
In the North, rain showers remain more common in Amazonas, Roraima, Amapá, northern Pará and part of Rondônia.
Rain may occur with thunderstorms, especially between the afternoon and evening. In Manaus (AM), the forecast is for heat and showers at times. In Belém (PA), there is also a chance of rain, but without a direct relationship with the cold front that acts in the Center-South.
