Man attacks ex-partner on the street and steals her car to escape; video shows attacks
The Court converted into preventive the arrest in the act of Jean Carlos Andrade da Silva, 31 years old, accused of threatening and attacking his ex-partner and stealing her car, in Santa Luzia, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte. A security camera filmed the attacks (see video above).
The man underwent a custody hearing on Tuesday afternoon (16). When analyzing the case, judge Rafaela Kehrig Silvestre considered the "violence suffered" by the victim and the fact that she declared that she had been attacked by Jean on other occasions.
"The magistrate must recognize cycles of violence and act preventively to avoid their intensification, with precautionary arrest, in this specific case, being an appropriate and necessary measure to interrupt the repetition of the crime and protect the victim", says an excerpt from the decision.
According to the State Department of Justice and Public Security (Sejusp), Jean Carlos is imprisoned at Ceresp Gameleira.
Victim was threatened and attacked
According to the police report, the 26-year-old victim told the Military Police that he was at a country music festival when he started receiving messages from the suspect, in the early hours of Sunday (15). He insisted that the two of them go on a date.
The woman stated that the relationship ended about three months ago and, as she had no interest in getting back together, she rejected the man's advances. However, when faced with her refusal, her ex began to offend and threaten her via WhatsApp.
After the threats, the young woman decided to leave the event and, upon arriving home, in the Londrina neighborhood, in Santa Luzia, she found the suspect waiting for her. Circuit footage shows that he tried to break into the residence and, upon seeing the woman, ran towards her and attacked her with punches, slaps and kicks.
According to the victim, the suspect tried to drag her into the house against her will. The victim told police officers that she feared she would be raped or killed if she was taken inside the property.
According to police records, the attacks only stopped when a neighbor intervened after hearing the calls for help. The man then fled, taking the young woman's car.
He was only found on Sunday night, in the Cinquentenário neighborhood, in the West Region of Belo Horizonte.
