"There was an improvement in diuresis, indicating a partial response to the support measures instituted and a reduction in the volume of drainage through the nasogastric tube. Raoni remains lucid, conscious and oriented, breathing spontaneously, without the need for mechanical ventilatory support or the aid of devices to maintain breathing", says the medical bulletin. According to the hospital, Raoni's health condition still requires intensive care, as he is an elderly patient and has multiple pre-existing comorbidities. Kidney function has partially improved, but has not yet returned to normal. >> Follow the Agência Brasil channel on WhatsApp The bulletin also informs that Chief Raoni continues to fast due to gastric subocclusion, which prevents the passage of food. Parenteral nutrition will be started (administration of nutrients directly into the bloodstream) and an upper digestive endoscopy is scheduled for the moment when the health condition stabilizes. There is no indication for surgical intervention. "He is a very strong man, but we always have to remember that he is over 90 years old and that he has comorbidities, in addition to the previous conditions of a person in this health situation. So, this really makes him a little more fragile, requiring a lot of care. This contributes to his relapses, but it is important to highlight that we have tried to take care of him and bring him back to his routine so that he can maintain his activities", said the technical director of Hospital Dois Pinheiros, Douglas Yanai, According to Yanai, Raoni is lucid, talking normally, always accompanied by a family member. "We have avoided visitors who are not really close to the family, but he is careful, conscious, responding. He has been talking to the medical team and this is something that makes us happy because it demonstrates his strength and the confidence we have in his recovery." Cacique Raoni is one of the world's main indigenous leaders due to his fight against deforestation in the Amazon and denouncing the impacts of deforestation on indigenous peoples. He was hospitalized again this Sunday afternoon (14), after feeling ill at home. The indigenous leader had already been hospitalized twice this year.
