Three men, aged 35 to 47, were fined for fishing in a prohibited place, near Cachoeira Salto Botelho, in Lucélia (SP), this Monday (15). The fine amounted to R$5,700.
According to the Environmental Police, the incident was recorded in a critical spot for predatory fishing, during the teams' patrols.

The suspects were in two boats and used cast nets in the restricted area. Furthermore, the police found 85.5 kg of curimbatá fish that had been caught.

Due to the illegal practice, the men received three environmental infraction notices which, together, totaled R$5,718.80. The boats and outboard motors were seized, as well as the cast nets.
The fish was donated to Lar São Vicente de Paulo in the municipality, as it was fit for human consumption.
The three men were arrested and the incident was filed at the Lucélia Civil Police Station for violating article 34 of Federal Law 9,605/1998, which provides for environmental crimes. After being interviewed and paying bail, they were released.
