The Civil Police arrested, this Monday (15), a man suspected of being part of a criminal organization involved in loan sharking and extortion in Campinas (SP). One victim reported losses of R$700,000.
The investigation began after a victim reported that he had taken out an informal loan and began to suffer abusive charges, in addition to serious threats, including against his assets, if he did not pay amounts much higher than agreed.

According to the Civil Police, the suspect was caught at the victim's establishment, where he allegedly made threats and demanded money again.
Teams from the 1st General Investigations Police Station (DIG) went to the location and carried out the arrest in the act. During the action, money, cell phones and other objects that may be linked to the crime were seized.
The Civil Police showed evidence that the suspect was working with others involved in a possible structured scheme. The man, who is a foreigner, was charged with usury (loan sharking), qualified extortion and criminal organization.
The suspect underwent a custody hearing and remains at the disposal of Justice. The DIG reported that investigations continue to identify other participants in the scheme.
