When announcing his pre-candidacy, he stated on social media that the moment demands his return to the political scene.
"Today I write again to the people of Amapá. This time to say, bluntly, that the PSB wants me as a candidate for the Senate — and that I accepted the nomination. From now on, we will go on this journey together. I accept because the moment demands it. Not out of habit of power. Not out of longing for the position. Janete and I are happy with our private lives. I accept because what is happening in Amapá politics hurts — and silence, at this time, would be complicity", said part of the announcement.
