Lula has meetings with presidents of France and Switzerland

President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva participated, this Monday (15), in bilateral meetings with the presidents of Switzerland, Guy Parmelin, in Geneva; and from France, Emmanuel Macron, upon arriving in the French city of Évian, where he is participating in the G7 Summit – a forum that brings together the seven largest economies in the world.
In the meeting with Macron, which lasted around 40 minutes, the leaders highlighted bilateral cooperation, especially in the area of defense, with an emphasis on the Submarine Development Program (Prosub).

They also discussed strengthening cooperation between French Guiana and Amapá, as well as French interest in supporting Brazil in the area of supercomputers.
Lula also recalled the creation of Unitaid, an international organization focused on global health, created in 2006 with the aim of expanding access to medicines and health technologies for countries in the Global South.

Switzerland
In the meeting with Parmelin, when Lula was on his way to France, the focus of the meeting was the expansion of bilateral trade and the diversification of exports.
According to Planalto, the two presidents agreed that the Mercosur-EFTA agreement represents an “opportunity to expand trade, in a global scenario marked by increased protectionism and unilateralism”.

EFTA brings together European countries that are outside the European Union – Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
Among the decisions taken by Lula and Parmelin during the meeting was to expand cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, energy, health and defense.
The Swiss president praised Brazil for holding COP30 and for its progress in combating deforestation.
G7
Lula will participate as a guest at the G7 Summit, between June 15th and 17th. The group is made up of the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy and Japan.
During the meeting, he must defend the expansion of international aid to developing countries and the reform of global governance, with an emphasis on institutions such as the UN and the WTO.
Lula will also participate in debates on balanced economic growth and artificial intelligence, addressing technology opportunities and risks.
The summit will also discuss topics such as digital protection of children, combating drug trafficking, migration, cancer and critical minerals.
The president seeks to reinforce multilateralism amid global trade tensions, including recent criticism from the United States of Brazil.
