According to the Military Police (PM), the accident happened around 8 am, at the intersection of Avenida Dom Aparecido José Dias and Rua Leão. The car was traveling along the main avenue when it hit the left side of the motorcycle, which had disregarded a "STOP" sign.
With the force of the impact, the car crossed the median and stopped in the opposite lane. The PM reported that security cameras in the region recorded the car driver's behavior after the collision.
The video, according to the PM, shows when the man gets out of the vehicle, removes objects that appear to be drink bottles and hands them to another person. Then, upon noticing the approach of a police vehicle, he climbs onto the back of an electric bicycle and leaves the scene.
The motorcyclist received first aid from a team from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) and was taken to the Roraima General Hospital (HGR) in serious condition.
Forensics were on site to analyze the scene. The car was seized because its license had expired in 2021. The motorcycle had its documentation in order, but was also collected by the police because no one responsible showed up to collect it.
