Ministry of Education orders University to review revalidated diplomas The Ministry of Education (MEC) notified the University of Gurupi (UNIRG) to take immediate steps to review the diploma revalidation processes of more than 1,000 doctors who studied abroad. For the body, the processes present serious formal defects. The University of Gurupi (UnirG) informed that it received the document with the notes, which for the most part involve procedural and operational aspects. He stated that he will provide clarifications and regularize the information and records, reaffirming the legality of the procedures carried out by the institution (See full note below). 📱 Click here to follow the g1 TO channel on WhatsApp The main reason given by the MEC is that the UNIRG Medicine course has a Preliminary Course Concept (CPC) equal to 1. According to the Ministry, only institutions with a CPC equal to or greater than 3 are authorized to carry out foreign diploma revalidation processes. In addition to the insufficient score, the Ministry identified two other critical irregularities: Absence of Revalida: In 2025, 1,876 processes were registered, none of which would have passed the National Medical Diploma Revalidation Examination (Revalida), a requirement mandatory by law. Furthermore, 1,079 do not have any court decision determining the validation of the diploma. Inappropriate use of the national platform: Between 2023 and 2024, the institution registered processes external to the Carolina Bori Platform, failing to comply with the obligation that all revalidation procedures be carried out exclusively through this official MEC system. In these processes, the right to contradictory proceedings and full defense of affected professionals must be guaranteed. Some of the processes must be subject to direct invalidation because they do not comply with current regulations. Other processes that have linked court decisions must have their information forwarded to the Ministry for registration and monitoring. The notification makes it clear that, if the university fails or resists complying with the determination, the Ministry of Education itself may intervene directly to determine the invalidation of the acts. To ensure compliance with the measure and the protection of the public interest, the MEC also communicated the situation to the Public Ministry of the State of Tocantins (MPTO), the Regional Council of Medicine (CRM-TO) and the State Education Council. Full note from Unirg The University of Gurupi (UnirG) informs that it received the file sent by the Ministry of Education and that the notes presented refer, for the most part, to procedural and operational aspects related to the recording of information on the Carolina Bori Platform. The Institution clarifies that it will provide all technical clarifications requested by the competent bodies and will promote the regularization of information and records that may be identified as inconsistent, observing the guidelines of the Ministry of Education and applicable legislation. UnirG reaffirms its confidence in the legality of the procedures conducted by the Institution, as well as its permanent commitment to transparency, legal certainty and full compliance with the rules that govern diploma revalidation processes. The University remains at the disposal of the MEC for any necessary clarifications and will adopt all applicable administrative measures to adapt and update the information on the Carolina Bori Platform.
