A video in which the cat Caetano rides with his owner Felipe Ferreira on a bicycle through Beira-mar Norte, an upscale area of Florianópolis, went viral due to the feline's reactions. The animal makes faces and mouths at pedestrians and even hisses at a dog (watch above).
“Him breathing at the dog at the end is the best,” he wrote in the caption of the video.

The video was published on Sunday (7) and had 1.9 million views on a social network by Saturday afternoon (13).
🤳 In the footage, the cat appears leaning on its owner's shoulders, with its hair swaying in the wind, while observing the movement on the shore. Attentive to everything, he turns his head to watch runners and squeaks when a dog passes on the sidewalk.
The tutor's idea is to get the kitten used to walking outside and take him on a bike trip soon. Veterinarian Camila Batschke says that it is possible to train cats to walk outdoors, but highlights that it takes patience to do so (see below).
"I really want to take him on a next cycle trip, perhaps through Peru or Bolivia. I want to introduce kayaking into his life in the coming months", said Felipe.

Tutor does training to get cat used to walks
Caetano, 4 months old, came into Felipe's life just over a month ago, when he adopted a neighbor's animal. The name is in honor of the singer Caetano Veloso.
The idea of taking a cat on trips came to Felipe after a bicycle trip to Ushuaia, in the south of Argentina, leaving Florianópolis. At the time, he wanted to take two felines, but realized that it would not be possible to get them used to such a trip, as they were already adults.
"In 2026, I went on a new cycling trip along the Carretera Austral [in Chilean Patagonia] and in Cerro Castillo I fell in love with a feline that was in an accommodation where I stayed. She must have been 4 months old too. I returned to Brazil with the idea of adopting a new kitten and trying to introduce trips with him, and it has worked very well."
To get the cat used to walks, he started slowly.
"First, I trained him inside the condominium where I live. I used toys with feathers for him to chase, pieces of bamboo with leaves to arouse curiosity and calling his name every second so he knew his name."
Felipe bought his own backpack to carry the cat on the bike, with openings for the paws, tail and head. The idea is that it stays safe, with no chance of falling.
"There is a sewn guide that is attached to Caetano's chest harness. If he falls, he gets stuck in this guide", he explained.
According to Felipe, Caetano also rides a stand up paddle and walks on the street.
"In stand up paddleboarding, it goes loose, with just the chest strap so that, if it falls into the water, it's easy to pull it up. This has never happened, as standup paddleboarding offers a certain amount of stability," he continued.

With patience, it is possible to train cats to walk
Veterinarian Camila Batschke says that it is possible to train cats to walk outdoors. But it takes patience. "Whether the kitten is a more domestic animal or not, that depends a lot on how it is raised, on the family's habits."
Generally, the species is known to stay indoors as it is not very used to noise.
"When cats go out alone, without owners, there are a lot of accidents, dog attacks, fights, etc. That's why we have this impression that cats are more domestic, and it's certainly better to keep them that way, for their health, for their quality of life", declares the veterinarian.
However, she says that it is possible, with patience, to get the feline used to noises and other challenges of walks. She cites tips:
train your cat from puppyhood
Buy a specific collar for cats so that your cat doesn't escape. This collar goes around the neck and also has a part for the animal's chest.
let the cat get used to the harness for a few hours at home
After a few days, you can train your cat by walking him indoors.
stimulate the animal with snacks, so that it associates the walk with something good
The next step is to take the cat for a walk outside the house, in the building's hall, in the courtyard. Always on a leash
If you notice that the animal has become scared, suspend the walk and take it back home.
Felipe also gives tips: according to him, it's interesting to start with short walks on deserted streets, in addition to getting him used to being close to the water while being held. The ideal is to do this little by little, every day.
Calling him by his name from an early age also helps him respond when called.
