It is hard to believe that the Turkish national team has participated in the World Cup only twice in the last 72 years. Their third appearance is now with a new generation led by Arda Güler and Kanan Yildiz. But 24 years ago, in the 2002 Korea-Japan World Cup, Türkiye made one of the biggest surprises in the history of football by winning the third place.
