In goalball, there are three athletes on each side. Everyone wears blindfolds, to prevent those with low vision from having an advantage over those who are completely blind. The ball has a bell, which allows players to hear where it is so they can defend shots.
There are two halves of 12 minutes, but it ends sooner if one of the teams opens up a ten goal difference.
The Brazilian victory had goals from André (three), Leomon (two), Parazinho and Paulo. The triumph tasted like revenge. The four top scorers were part of the bronze medalist team at the Paralympics in Paris (France), in 2024, beaten by Ukraine itself in the semifinals.
Current three-time world champion, Brazil is the country with the most titles in the competition among men. The Turks, Paralympic champions in Paris, scored 3-2 and came out on top.
