Body would have remained in the house for 24 hours before being removed, police say
According to the Homicide delegate, Josenildo Ferreira, Laércio Müller Rocha was killed inside the house where he stayed in the Parque Anhanguera neighborhood, in Imperatriz. According to investigations, the crime occurred after a disagreement between people who were at the scene.
Police point out that the victim's body remained in the residence for around 24 hours before being removed. According to the police chief, after the crime, the residents of the property had the support of other people to hide the body.
"It was not a premeditated crime initially, because it happened as a result of a disagreement inside the house. The death occurred in the residence, and the body remained there for at least 24 hours, before being removed by the residents to be hidden", said the delegate.
The investigation also identified that more than one vehicle may have been used in the action. According to the police, the cars that appear in security camera images are being examined, and two other vehicles were allegedly used to leave the house and transport the body.
One of the cars was later found in the possession of the suspected couple arrested in Ceará, which, according to the police, reinforces the connection between those being investigated and the crime.
The businessman's body was found on land with signs of violence
Laércio's body was located on land in Davinópolis, approximately 17 km from Imperatriz. At the scene, evidence was found that the victim may have been set on fire. The victim's personal items, such as bank cards, were found in the same spot where the body was.
The location was identified after residents noticed a strong odor in the region. Military police isolated the area for forensic work, which collected the remains in an advanced state of decomposition.

Suspicious couple was arrested in Ceará
According to the Federal Highway Police (PRF), Thiago Guilherme and Yala Kananda were in a car approached by agents at around 11:30 pm, at kilometer 313 of BR-222, in Tianguá (CE), after surveying and sharing information carried out by PRF teams in the states of Maranhão, Piauí and Ceará. The investigations began after a request for support made by the Federal Police, which was following the case together with the Civil Police of Maranhão.
During this period, the fugitives even tried to present themselves to the authorities via video call, a measure that was not accepted by the delegate responsible for the investigations, who ordered the continuation of the search to locate the suspects and comply with court orders.
Also according to the PRF, when approached, Thiago Guilherme and Yala Kananda told the agents that they had recently met and that they were traveling on vacation, leaving Parnaíba (PI) and heading to João Pessoa (PB).
After their arrest, the two were taken to the Regional Civil Police Station in Tianguá, where the appropriate legal procedures were adopted and communications were made to the authorities responsible for the investigation in Maranhão.
