Why Santiago and Valparaíso are a pretty good idea as a double city trip

Both cities, just over 100 kilometers apart, are not exactly tourist magnets. Why? There are plenty of reasons for visiting both – very different ones. And that doesn't just have to do with the location - Santiago on the Andes, Valparaíso on the Pacific.
