Court receives special painting with Neymar's face and art goes viral on social media
A public football court in Sumaré (SP) went viral on social media after receiving art with the face of Neymar, number 10 for Santos and the Brazilian team. The painting, created even before the World Cup, uses muralism and graffiti techniques.
The panel is 30 meters high by 20 meters wide, and took around 20 days to complete. The initiative was by artists Junior Silva, Allan Chrystian and Weslen de Almeida Arcangelo, known as "Gelin".
Initially, it was necessary to make a technical visit to the court to create a sketch of the art. Then, with the planning of the materials, the art was executed and finished with the application of resin. The block is in the Paraíso neighborhood and the revitalization was completed three weeks ago.
"The objective was to immortalize Neymar's legacy in football and show how art and sport have the power to inspire dreams and transform public spaces", said the authors, who are part of the +Cor project.

"We received more praise than criticism. The children were the ones who identified most with the work, mainly because it portrayed Neymar. During the work, the residents were also aware of not entering the court, which made it a lot easier", stated the group.
Other projects
The project has also produced paintings of Ronaldinho Gaúcho and Ronaldo

Two other courts in Sumaré previously painted by the project also depict Brazilian football stars: one with the face of Ronaldinho Gaúcho, in the Maria Antônia neighborhood, which used the geometric style; and one with Ronaldo, at Parque Bandeirantes.
To g1, Junior said that all the arts were made in partnership with the City Hall, which invited the group to collaborate in the revitalization of the places.
"During execution and after completion, several residents reported that they felt motivated to resume or intensify their sports practice. The panels also raised awareness of the square and its surroundings," he said.
Urban art and culture

According to Junior, the project provided great visibility for the artists themselves and for urban art, which, despite facing prejudice, can contribute to the revitalization of public squares.
"In addition to bringing life to the place, it brings a sense of belonging. Whoever receives this type of art ends up, in a certain way, identifying with the art that is being made. The person feels like they belong to the place", he stated.
"Culturally, it encourages people to understand who is being portrayed, because the person will research. They end up gaining knowledge. There are people who research the colors that were used. All of this ends up adding to the person's culture", he added.
Where to find it?
