Santa Casa de São Carlos (SP) inaugurated this Thursday (11) the OncoNova Cancer Center, the institution's new oncology outpatient clinic, which should speed up care for cancer patients in the city and the region.

With an investment of R$5 million, the new center has 754.3 m² of built area, ten offices for oncologists and other specialties, a multidisciplinary team, space for dressings and ostomy care, in addition to being close to the chemotherapy and radiotherapy sectors.
The inauguration was attended by the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas.

Diagnosis and treatment
Accredited as a High Complexity Oncology Care Unit (Unacon), the institution now offers comprehensive care, from diagnosis to treatment. The new treatment center is expected to help reduce patient waiting times.
In 2025, 10,371 chemotherapy sessions and 9,676 radiotherapy sessions were carried out in patients treated by the Unified Health System (SUS), consolidating Santa Casa as a regional reference in oncological treatment.

For 24 years, outpatient oncology care had been provided by the Municipality of São Carlos, through the Municipal Health Department.
With the requirements of the legislation that regulates UNACONs, complete integration of the network became necessary, centralizing services in a single space.
The project was made possible by the partnership between the Government of the State of São Paulo and the City of São Carlos.
