Amanda has been in prison since December 2023, when the murders took place. In a note sent to g1, Amanda's defense, represented by lawyer Rodrigo Faucz, said that the sentence "does not reflect the evidence, especially what happened at the hearing" and that it will appeal, asking for her acquittal (read the full note at the end of the report). In February this year, during an investigation hearing into the crimes committed against her ex-boyfriend, Faucz claimed that Amanda suffers from mental health problems. The sentences to which Amanda was sentenced for the three crimes were: extortion: 5 years, 3 months and 15 days in prison, in addition to a 61-day fine; persecution: 7 months in prison and 11 days fine; ideological falsehood: 3 months and 15 days in detention. Prison sentences must be served in a closed, semi-open or open regime. Detention can be served in a semi-open or open regime. Each of the fine days corresponds to one tenth of the minimum wage in force at the time of the events. The crimes occurred in 2023, when the national minimum was R$1,320. According to the judge, the fines will be allocated to the State Penitentiary Fund. Amanda made the charges anonymously, using unknown cell phone numbers. "I didn't pay because I'm sure I didn't commit what was being alleged," said the ex. Even though the extortion was not completed, because there was no payment, the judge explained that the commission of the crime was proven, since the Court understands that it is not necessary for the person demanding the money to have obtained a financial advantage. In relation to the persecution, the ex-boyfriend reported the various episodes, in a statement to the Court, including anonymous messages and calls, threatening him, his family and herself. The investigations later concluded that they were all carried out by Amanda. The deaths On December 20, 2023, Amanda was arrested on suspicion of having poisoned her ex-father-in-law and his mother. The substance, whose name was not disclosed by the Scientific Police, was placed in two pot cakes, which were taken by her to the family for breakfast. The moment was even recorded in a photo, in which the lawyer is smiling next to the table with cakes, bags and a bottle of juice. According to the Scientific Police, the substance is considered a 'potent' poison and was used in large quantities. Even in small doses, it is toxic and lethal, and has no taste or odor, meaning it cannot be perceived. They, however, suffered nothing because they refused the food. When denouncing Amanda for double qualified homicide and double attempted qualified homicide, in January 2024, the Public Ministry of Goiás stated that there were the following elements: use of insidious means (using poison); bad motive (form of revenge against the ex-boyfriend); commission through concealment. For the Civil Police, the murders were motivated by Amanda's feeling of rejection at the end of her 1 and a half month relationship with Leonardo's son. Therefore, the lawyer wanted to cause her ex as much suffering as possible. The valid evidence in the process points to the non-existence of the crimes accused of Amanda and, therefore, the defense will seek to reform the sentence before the Court of Justice of the State of Goiás, requesting acquittal. We continue to trust the Judiciary so that Amanda's case is judged fairly and impartially.
