According to the Paraguayan authorities, the main line of investigation is that the farmer was the victim of a kidnapping carried out by an armed group operating in the region. So far, details about where he remained during his disappearance have not been released.
According to the family, Almir managed to escape the criminals before being located. His brother, Walter Brum, reported that the farmer spent days walking in a forested area without knowing exactly where he was.
"He escaped on June 1st. He was walking in the woods without knowing where he was. On Thursday (6th), he managed to warn us and we went to look for him", he said.
Also according to Walter, Almir was found near the Marina Cue forest reserve, in the Curuguaty region, in the department of Canindeyú, close to the location known as Campo Aguae, at kilometer 21.
After the reunion, family members stated that the farmer returned safely.
"He returned home safe and sound. It was a miracle," they said.
