While the Mauritanian coast guard has reported a strong resumption of attempted crossings to the Canary Islands since the end of May, the intercepted canoes are leaving from countries located further and further south, such as Guinea or the Gambia. A shift in migratory routes which increases the risks for candidates for exile who want to reach the Spanish archipelago at all costs.
