At the beginning of this month, the Court ordered the patient to be admitted to a suitable unit, but he continues to wait for a place.
"He is losing weight. The longer it takes, the greater the risk of consequences. It's very sad," said his wife, Rosilaine de Almeida.
In a note, Ribeirão das Neves City Hall informed that Francisco Firmino receives assistance at the unit while awaiting transfer.
Intubated elderly woman waits for a place in the ICU in Sabará
Retired Geralda Braga, aged 77, has been hospitalized at UPA Padre Lázaro, in Sabará, since May 26th. After suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest, she remains intubated and awaits transfer to an ICU.
The family contacted the Public Prosecutor's Office, which obtained a decision in court determining the immediate transfer of the patient, including to the private network if there is no vacancy in the SUS. Even so, the elderly woman remains in the UPA.
"Every day they give a different date. My mother is still in the same state," said her son, Carlos Braga de Alcântara.
Sabará City Hall reported that Geralda Braga receives care in the urgency and emergency room while awaiting transfer to an ICU. The municipality added that six hospitals consulted this Tuesday refused the patient due to a lack of beds.
Almost a thousand patients are waiting for beds in BH
Both cases occur amid high demand for hospitalizations in the capital of Minas Gerais.
According to Belo Horizonte City Hall, 949 patients are waiting for hospital beds in the city. Of this total, around 61% are patients from municipalities in the Metropolitan Region and the interior of the state.
Since May, transfers have been regulated by the State Regulation Operations Center (Core), which replaced the SUSFácil system and operates in an integrated manner with the Belo Horizonte Admissions Center.
What the responsible bodies say
The State Department of Health of Minas Gerais (SES-MG) reported that Core actively searches for vacancies compatible with the needs of each patient.
According to the ministry, more than 200 doctors participate in analyzing cases and defining referrals.
The Belo Horizonte Admissions Center reported that waiting time varies according to the severity of the clinical condition and the availability of places in the hospital network.
