Parents of students at the Alzira Teixeira de Souza State Elementary School, in the Condor neighborhood, in Belém, denounce that the unit has been releasing students early for around two weeks due to the lack of water. According to those responsible, the school operates full time, with classes from 7:15 am to 4 pm, but students are being dismissed around noon due to supply problems. The situation has caused inconvenience for families who depend on their children remaining at school throughout the school year. "I come to leave him here at 7:15 am and I have to pick him up at noon", reported housewife Sônia Santos. For many parents, the unexpected change in routine directly affects the working day. Cook Fabrícia Santos says she needs to look for alternatives to avoid leaving her daughter alone. "We already trust, we already have the support to leave it at school for this. Then when it happens, we have to leave our job or have someone to pick it up. We can no longer work properly because we are looking for someone to pick it up, because we can't leave work", he said. Another difficulty reported by families is finding a safe place to leave their children after early departure. "In this case, she goes to work with me. This is complicated because it causes inconvenience, because not every boss accepts it", said caregiver Ivanete dos Santos. According to parents, a water truck has been supplying the school, but the amount of water would not be enough to meet the unit's demand throughout the day. "A water truck comes here, fills the water tank, but the tank dries up. It doesn't last all day," said Sônia Santos. According to those responsible, students no longer received lunch at school due to lack of water. "Here they only eat lunch because there is no way to make lunch due to the water", said the mother. In addition to the impacts on families' routines, parents are also concerned about possible harm to students' learning, who would be missing around four hours of classes per day. "It interferes with their studies, because what we want is for them to improve", said Ivanete dos Santos. The Alzira Teixeira de Souza State School is located on Travessa dos Tupinambás, in the Condor neighborhood.
