'Rotten oranges': prosecutor speaks after arrest of former head of Dise and MP intern Responsible for the operation that arrested the former head of Dise, a former civil police officer and a former Public Prosecutor's Office intern suspected of passing on confidential information and benefiting members of the PCC, prosecutor Marcos Tadeu Rioli said that there is a concern on the part of the institutions to "eliminate these bad oranges from their staff." According to Rioli, the operation launched this Tuesday (9) demonstrates that the Civil and Military Police, in addition to the Public Ministry (SP), are acting in an integrated manner so that "bad professionals who seek privileged information to carry out their crimes are removed from the institutions' staff". The prosecutor also highlighted that society can trust institutions. "I want to say that the population, society, can be sure that the institutions are working so that everyone receives an efficient, continuous and transparent public service," he said. According to investigations, the suspects would have participated in a scheme involving leakage of confidential data and extortion of those being investigated. They also maintained contact with people identified as members of a group linked to the PCC, which even planned the death of a Gaeco prosecutor. The plan, however, was not executed. See who the prisoners are: Former chief investigator at Dise Former head of investigators at the Narcotics Investigations Department (Dise) of Campinas (SP), Maurício Aparecido de Oliveira Personal file One of those arrested is Maurício Aparecido de Oliveira, who was head of investigators at the Narcotics Investigations Station (Dise) in Campinas (SP). Currently, he worked in the city's 1st Police District - a flagrant center that serves the central region of the city. According to the Public Ministry, a week before the operation that dismantled the plan to kill Gaeco promoter Amauri Silveira Filho, in August 2025, Maurício met with one of the suspects identified as responsible for carrying out the attack. Prosecutors say they found videos showing the meeting - see here. Now, they are trying to find out whether confidential information about the investigation was passed on to the criminal group. g1 tries to locate Maurício's defense. Former Public Prosecutor's Office intern Gabriel Lira de Jesus, former MP intern arrested in operation against PCC infiltrators Reproduction/Instagram Another prisoner is law graduate Gabriel Lira de Jesus who, at the time of the facts investigated, was doing an internship in a criminal prosecutor's office of the Public Ministry in Campinas. His defense was not located. According to Gaeco, he would have used access to the institution's systems and databases to locate those being investigated with high economic power and demand money in exchange for supposed protection against investigations. The suspicion is that he entered the prosecutor's office with the intention of obtaining information for this type of practice. One of the findings of the investigation emerged after analyzing the cell phone of Maurício Silveira Zambaldi, known as "Dragão", suspected of financing the plan to kill prosecutor Amauri Silveira Filho. On Dragão's device, prosecutors found messages in which Gabriel Lira de Jesus demanded R$500,000 so that information about the businessman would not be sent to Gaeco. From these messages, investigators reached the then intern. According to the MP, he left the prosecutor's office a few weeks after operations that targeted "Dragon" and started working at a law firm in the Campinas region, which was also the target of searches this Tuesday. Former civil police officer Itamar Gomes da Silva is a former civil police officer who, according to the Public Ministry, helped the then intern and participated in the scheme. He was arrested in Cardoso (SP). Itamar would be responsible for connecting former investigator Maurício Aparecido de Oliveira to businessman José Ricardo, identified as one of those responsible for executing the plan to kill prosecutor Amauri Silveira Filho. Videos obtained by GloboNews show the meeting between the two investigated precisely in the days before the operation that ended up foiling the alleged murder plan. Itamar had already been arrested in 2008 and ended up expelled from the Civil Police after being convicted of an extortion case. On that occasion, according to the Public Ministry's complaint, he and two other police officers arrested a woman being investigated for drug trafficking and demanded money from an alleged leader of the gang to release her. Investigation Operation Infiltrados is an offshoot of two operations launched last year: Operation Ready Response: launched in August, it investigated the activities of a criminal organization linked to the PCC which, among other crimes, was planning an attempt on the life of Gaeco prosecutor Amauri Silveira Filho. Operation Off White: launched on October 30, 2025 - carried out to dismantle a money laundering scheme linked to two of the most wanted drug traffickers in Brazil. Among them, one of the PCC's main free chiefs: Sérgio Luiz de Freitas (Mijão or Xixi). In addition to the three temporary arrests, ten search and seizure warrants were executed in Campinas and Cardoso (SP). A criminal police officer is also investigated and was the target of searches.
