Works 'hold' Indubrasil and congestion requires patience from drivers
The pavement restoration works on BR-262 cause traffic jams near the Indubrasil roundabout, in Campo Grande. According to the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT), services must continue until the end of July and require stop and go operations on sections of the highway.
On Tuesday morning (9), drivers faced long queues of vehicles, especially when accessing the roundabout that connects Campo Grande to municipalities such as Terenos, Rochedo, Anastácio, Miranda and Corumbá. Truck and trailer traffic contributed to the increase in slowdowns.

Congestion also affected workers who needed to reach municipalities in the region. Teachers who left Campo Grande to teach at schools located along BR-262 reported delays due to queues and, in some cases, were unable to reach the teaching units at the scheduled time.
In the section of the roundabout towards Aquidauana, traffic was open for vehicles heading from Terenos to Campo Grande. Drivers coming from other directions had to wait for the stop and go system to be released, which led to queues lasting several kilometers.
According to DNIT, the works include the restoration of the pavement of BR-262 between the Campo Grande ring road roundabout, at the exit to Aquidauana, and the bridge over the Cachoeirão River.
The forecast is that services in the Indubrasil region will be completed by the end of June. The other stages of the work should continue until the end of July.
In a note, DNIT informed that the intervention is necessary to improve traffic and safety conditions on the highway. The agency also regretted the inconvenience caused to drivers while carrying out the work.
The DNIT advises drivers to pay extra attention when passing through the location and, whenever possible, plan their journeys in advance to avoid delays.
