In April this year, Brazilians withdrew R$482.8 million in amounts forgotten in the financial system, according to data released this Tuesday (9) by the Central Bank (BC). In total, the Receivable Values System (SVR) has already returned R$15 billion to bank customers. Until April, there were still R$10.3 billion available for withdrawal, but, last month, the federal government transferred part of the SVR resources to the Desenrola Brasil 2.0 program. According to the Ministry of Finance, R$5.7 billion has already been allocated to the Operations Guarantee Fund (FGO), a public fund that will serve as a guarantee for renegotiating debts in the program to combat default. Related news: Government will give another 6 months to withdraw money forgotten in banks. Banks transfer R$5.7 billion of forgotten amounts to Desenrola. The amounts transferred to the FGO can still be claimed by holders. A public call notice must be published to regulate the procedure for contesting and returning resources. After publication, citizens will have 30 days to request the amounts transferred to the public fund. If there is no dispute, the money will be definitively incorporated into the FGO. The SRV is a BC service through which citizens can check whether they, their company or a deceased person have money forgotten in a bank, consortium or other institution, such as finance companies and brokers. To consult, there is no need to log in, just enter the Individual Taxpayer Registry (CPF) and date of birth or the Legal Entity Registry (CNPJ) and the date the company opened, including for companies that have already closed. If there is any amount, you need to access the system and check how much there is to receive, the origin of this amount, the institution that must make the refund; as well as contact and other additional information. To do this, you must log in with your Gov.br account, at silver or gold levels and two-step verification. Rescue The money can be redeemed in three ways: the first is to contact the institution responsible for the amount directly and request receipt; the second is to make the request through the Receivable Values System itself; and the third is the automatic redemption request function. With the tool, citizens will not need to consult the system periodically or manually register a request for each amount that exists in their name. If any resource is made available by financial institutions, the credit will be made directly to the citizen's account. The automatic redemption request is exclusive to individuals and is only available to those with a CPF type Pix key. Subscription to the service is optional. Forgotten values originate from: closed checking or savings accounts; capital quotas and apportionment of net surpluses of former credit union participants; unsought resources from terminated consortium groups; tariffs charged incorrectly; installments or expenses of credit operations charged unduly; prepaid or postpaid payment accounts closed; registration accounts maintained by brokers and dealers closed; and other resources available at institutions for refunds.  Beneficiaries The SVR statistics are released by the BC with a two-month lag, updating new sources of forgotten values in the financial system. In relation to the number of beneficiaries, by the end of April, 41,465,905 account holders had redeemed amounts, of which 36,955,690 were individuals and 4,510,215 legal entities. 50,333,796 beneficiaries failed to withdraw their resources, of which 45,323,751 are individuals and 5,010,045 legal entities. Most people and businesses are entitled to small amounts. Amounts receivable of up to R$10 concentrate 64.57% of beneficiaries. Values between R$10.01 and R$100 correspond to 23.42% of account holders. Amounts between R$100.01 and R$1,000 represent 9.91% of customers. Only 2.1% are entitled to receive more than R$1,000. Scams The Central Bank warns account holders to be careful with fraudsters who claim to act as intermediaries for supposed redemptions of forgotten amounts. The BC emphasizes that all Receivable Values System services are completely free, and that it does not send links, nor does it make contact to discuss receivable values or to confirm personal data. The authority also asks that no one provide passwords and clarifies that no one is authorized to make this type of request.
