The National Council of Justice (CNJ) approved this Tuesday (9) the opening of a Disciplinary Administrative Process (PAD) to investigate allegations of sexual crimes against the judge of the Minas Gerais Court of Justice Magid Nauef Láuar.
The councilors also approved the maintenance of the judge's removal from his duties, which has been in effect since February.
The accusations against Láuar came to light after a decision by the judge himself gained national repercussion, which acquitted a 35-year-old man accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, in Triângulo Mineiro.
In the decision, he claimed that there was a consensual emotional bond between the accused and the victim. This decision ended up being reviewed by him.
In light of the allegations, in February the National Council of Justice removed Láuar from his duties. Furthermore, the magistrate was the target of a Federal Police operation.
This Tuesday, the CNJ inspector, minister Mauro Campbell, presented a report on the preliminary investigation of the case. According to him, there is sufficient evidence of serious misconduct and violation of functional duties by the magistrate, which justifies the opening of the PAD and the maintenance of his removal.
Campbell's vote received unanimous support from the other CNJ councilors.
According to the magistrate, the CNJ collected statements from seven people who reported having been victims of Láuar. These victims accuse the magistrate of crimes such as acts similar to rape and sexual harassment.
