The arrest took place on Monday (8) by the Civil Police of Amazonas, in partnership with the Military Police. The arrest is part of Operation Safe Woman, an initiative by the Ministry of Justice and Public Security that combats domestic violence and crimes against women throughout Brazil. According to delegate Joyce Coelho, the case began after the Military Police were called to contain a family argument. Everyone involved was taken to the police station to provide clarification. "During the hearings, the investigation team identified that the confusion had been motivated by an episode of domestic violence involving the suspect and his stepdaughter. According to the victim, she went to the residence to deliver a food basket to her mother, but her presence would have displeased her stepfather, who pushed her and held her by the neck violently, causing apparent injuries", said delegate Joyce Coelho. 📲 Join the g1 AM channel on WhatsApp According to the delegate, after the attack, other family members intervened, which resulted in a widespread argument. "In his statement, the suspect denied the accusations and stated that he had been the victim of attacks and insults by his family. However, given the reports, the injuries observed and the elements gathered during the investigation, there was sufficient evidence of the crime of bodily harm in the context of domestic and family violence against women", said the delegate.
