Reproduction/EPTV Paraíba adopted the temporary suspension of the Butantan Laboratory's dengue vaccine, following a recommendation from the Ministry of Health and the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). Of these, three required hospitalization and two died. According to the ministry, it is not possible to conclude that the cases were caused by the vaccine, but the records are under investigation. In Paraíba, 71 reports of adverse events were recorded after application of the vaccine, all classified as non-serious, according to SES-PB. The cases continue to be monitored by the State Immunization Center, together with the municipalities. Now on g1 The vaccine began to be offered in the state in February 2026, aimed at health professionals in Primary Health Care (PHC). Paraíba received 22,940 doses, distributed to 223 municipalities. To date, 7,984 doses have been administered. With the suspension, the secretariat informed that it will begin reverse logistics to collect the remaining doses in the municipalities. The vaccines will be stored in the State Cold Chain, in João Pessoa, until further definition by the health authorities. The secretariat advises that vaccinated people observe their health status for up to 21 days after application and seek medical attention in case of symptoms, such as fever, abdominal pain, vomiting, among others. It is worth noting that the suspension only applies to the vaccine produced by Butantan.
