After the temporary suspension of the Butantan Institute's dengue vaccine, Campinas (SP) reinforced that the immunization of adolescents aged 10 to 14 continues normally in the city's health centers.
According to the Ministry of Health, SUS continues to offer vaccination to this group with the Qdenga vaccine, produced in Japan and offered on the public network since 2024. Around 8 million doses have already been administered in Brazil, according to the agency.
🔎 The suspension of vaccination with the Butantan vaccine was determined by the Ministry of Health this Monday (8), after two suspicious deaths were recorded. In Campinas, the vaccine was administered to public and private health workers and people aged 59 or over.
Campinas City Hall reinforced that families who need to vaccinate their children in this age group should look for a Health Center with a photo ID and vaccination booklet, if they have one.

Cases under investigation in Campinas
Campinas (SP) administered 3,410 doses of the dengue vaccine from the Butantan Institute before the temporary suspension determined by the Ministry of Health this Monday (8).
According to the Campinas Health Department, the metropolis recorded 448 cases of possible adverse reactions, which represents 13.1% of applications. None of the cases were considered serious until the publication of this report.
With the suspension, the city hall reported that it keeps 562 doses in stock, which will not be used until the investigations are completed.
The reactions are part of the safety monitoring adopted in immunization campaigns and include symptoms that need to be monitored by health teams, according to the city hall.

The Department of Health advises that people who received the Butantan vaccine up to 21 days ago should be aware of symptoms such as:
fever;
severe abdominal pain;
persistent vomiting;
dizziness;
bleeding;
excessive drowsiness or irritability.
In case of warning signs, the recommendation is to seek a health service.
