Self-employed Weverton da Silva Murieta, 34 years old, one of the survivors of the collapse of the Frei Paolino Baldassari Bridge, in Sena Madureira, in the interior of Acre, underwent new tests this Monday (8), in Rio Branco, after feeling a headache. Despite the symptoms, he did not need to be hospitalized and has already returned to the city where he lives.
The information was confirmed to g1 by the Acre Health Department (Sesacre), which said that the freelancer sought medical care at João Câncio Fernandes Hospital and, due to still being in the post-trauma recovery period, the team opted for him to undergo preventive imaging exams and more detailed investigation of the condition in the capital.

The bridge collapsed on Friday night (5) with four people on top. The structure had been closed since Thursday (4) due to the risk of collapse on the banks of the Iaco River. Images from security cameras recorded the collapse and people passing through the blockade. See who the injured are here.
According to his cousin, Junior Fernandes Murieta, 50 years old, Weverton came to take the exams in an ambulance from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu). "It was just a complementary exam, thank God he is fine and is already returning to Sena [Madureira]", he highlighted.

According to Weverton's cousin, the freelancer is married and has three children. Junior said that, on the day of the accident, the family was desperate to learn that he was among the injured.
"When we found out about this accident, the family was desperate, as an event like this hardly allows anyone to survive, due to the height, approximately 30 meters. Only God could perform this miracle with my cousin", he commented.
Weverton spent one night in the João Câncio Fernandes Hospital, and was discharged from hospital on Saturday morning (6).
Weverton worked with Antônio Morais Filho unloading a truck of goods and were returning home when they found retired judge Edinaldo Muniz and his brother, Edinei Muniz, on the bridge.
According to the worker, Edinaldo asked them to show the crack in the bridge and they decided to accompany the former magistrate. Weverton also told what he remembers about the moment of the fall. He fell to the bottom of the river and clung to the structure that collapsed so as not to sink again.

Retired judge Edinaldo Muniz, 54 years old, one of the victims of the accident, remains hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Rio Branco Emergency Room. On Monday morning, the medical team began to remove the judge's sedation.

Edinaldo was broadcasting live on a social network showing the structure and criticizing the work when the accident occurred. After undergoing hip surgery, the retired judge needed a blood donation to continue treatment.

The patient presents a stable postoperative evolution, maintaining a good response to the established treatment. The hospital stay is due to the need to monitor the chest tube still in use. The patient remains under observation, receiving antibiotic therapy and multidisciplinary assistance.

The Civil Police confirmed that they had launched an investigation to determine the causes of the collapse. The investigation must be completed within 30 days. The general delegate of the Civil Police, Pedro Paulo Buzolin, confirmed that experts from the municipality have already carried out a preliminary examination at the site of the collapse.
The Acre Public Ministry (MP-AC) also confirmed that the Sena Madureira Civil and Criminal Justice Prosecutor's Office initiated a procedure to investigate the causes of the accident. The agency requested the National Department of Transport Infrastructure (DNIT) to carry out an examination in the area of the accident to identify whether there were flaws in the design, execution of the work or use of the material.
Closed bridge collapses in Acre
The Frei Paolino Baldassari Bridge was inaugurated on December 19, 2023 and was 232 meters long. Executed by the construction company Cidade Ltda, the work cost more than R$36 million. According to the Fire Department, the part of the structure that collapsed corresponds to 60% of the length, which is approximately 139 meters.
At the time of opening, Sena Madureira City Hall estimated that 2,500 people would benefit from the passage, which connected the two districts of the municipality.
