Reproduction / PF-PA The Federal Police, with support from the Federal Highway Police, launched Operation "Rota do Ouro" this Monday (8) to combat illegal mining in Novo Progresso, in the southwest of Pará. Investigations indicate that the area inspected may have been responsible for the clandestine extraction of approximately 80 kg of gold in the last three years. During the action, agents seized three hydraulic excavators and a pickup truck used in logistical support for criminal activity. No one was arrested. The inspection also identified signs of exploration in permanent preservation areas and legal reserves, which worsens the environmental impact of illegal activity. Investigations continue to identify all those responsible for the scheme and also the recipients of the extracted ore. The operation reinforces the role of security forces in combating the spread of illegal mining in the Amazon region, where this type of crime tends to cause large-scale environmental and economic damage, according to the PF.
