The Ministry of Education (MEC) launched MEC Idiomas, a free English and Spanish study platform. The tool provides interactive lessons, learning monitoring and certification, from basic to advanced levels. Related news: MEC Books will have an expanded collection of 25,000 works. MEC Livros: digital library already has more than half a million users. According to the MEC, the objective is for the system to be the first digital point of contact for beginner language students and their chosen language.  MEC Languages The online platform is free and accessible in two formats – website or app.  It is possible to assess the level of knowledge; set up a learning trail (class and reinforcement); test knowledge with each module; answer questions and practice conversation. Students can also participate in communities.   Both English and Spanish classes are organized into six levels. Currently, there are around 800 classes available.  Step by step To use the platform, the MEC gives the following instructions to interested parties:  access MEC Idiomas, through the website or app log in with the Gov.br password;   choose language of interest – English or Spanish;   take a knowledge test;  attend classes.   Languages without Borders MEC Idiomas is part of the Languages without Borders (IsF) program of the Ministry of Education. The public policy on bilingual education is aimed at the internationalization of Brazilian higher education to improve scientific production. The initiative aims to strengthen the training of foreign language teachers and promote the linguistic training of students, teachers and administrative technicians at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). MEC Idiomas also includes the training of foreigners in Portuguese and support for the training of basic education teachers.
