Academic and researcher in political affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Shahat, stated that “Israel is using the Lebanese arena as a pressure card against Iran,” noting that “targeting the southern suburb of Beirut falls within attempts to influence the course of negotiations between Tehran and Washington, and push the region towards further escalation.”
